Double success for Quartermile at the Scottish Property Awards

Quartermile celebrated a hugely successful night at the third annual Scottish Property Awards on March 3, 2016, with the developer scooping two major gongs.

Despite strong competition Quartermile took home the prestigious Development of the Year (Commercial Building) award for Quartermile 4.

Scheduled for completion in April 2016, Quartemile 4 will provide 128,000 sq ft of Grade A office space in Edinburgh, helping to meet the city’s increasing demand for commercial space.

Quartermile's Distinguishing Features

The building’s distinguishing features include its contemporary floor-to-ceiling windows and roof terraces, which boast striking views of Edinburgh, The Meadows and the Pentland Hills.

Later in the evening, Quartermile picked up its second award, receiving Deal of the Year for the Cirrus Logic pre-let at Quartermile 4.

The global company, which is headquartered in Austin, Texas, is to relocate from its existing Edinburgh premises to occupy four floors of Quartermile 4, covering 70,033 sq ft. With FanDuel set to occupy the remaining three floors of the building, the deal resulted in the building being 100 per cent let four months before practical completion.

Paul Curran, Quartermile Developments’ managing director, said: “Quartermile 4 is one of Scotland’s most successful speculative build projects, and its 100 per cent pre-letting is indicative of the confidence that exists within Quartermile and the Edinburgh commercial property market.”

“The two awards are testament to Quartermile being recognised by the industry in terms of both the quality of the development and the structure of the deal”

The Scottish Property Awards ceremony was held at the Glasgow City Hotel, with more than 650 people in attendance to see 16 awards presented.

Fiona Morton, chair of the Scottish Property Awards judging panel, said the winning entries illustrated the quality of regeneration, innovative design and excellent sales occurring across the country.

Fiona added: “The aim of the Scottish Property Awards is to stage a credible and independent competition which promotes the best in commercial property.

“It is hard work but also immensely rewarding for everyone involved. I hope all the winners make the most of their win and shout it from the rooftops.”

Chris Stewart, Chair of the Scottish Property Federation, said the activity occurring across the industry is making a positive contribution to Scottish life.

Chris added: “Celebrating talent in design, development and management of commercial property is a vital part of how we project ourselves as a nation to the rest of the UK and beyond.

“I hope that the winners tonight have been given a new incentive to continue their hard work developing property investment in Scotland and that we continue to raise the standard as an industry each year.”
