Bounce into spring with FitnessChicks

By Laura Westwater, owner of FitnessChicks

A video claiming to show ‘the most insane exercise class ever’ has been viewed more than 300,000 times on YouTube. It shows a dozen or more women in a fitness studio bouncing up and down on mini trampolines to music.

Spotting a fitness craze in the making, I quickly decided I had to add ‘Bouncercise’ classes to my gym timetable.

You might not believe it, but trampoline exercises provide a tough cardiovascular workout and improve your balance. The jumping up and down gets your heart pumping whilst strengthening your legs and toning your gluteal muscles. In our 50 minute class you can burn up to 600 calories.

As someone with muscle strain injuries myself, I can say that trampoline exercises are brilliant for people with them. It’s a workout that doesn’t put too much stress on your joints and bones. Above all else, it’s great fun – you’re guaranteed to leave the class with a smile on your face.

Women’s fitness has always been important to me since I lost weight and became fit myself. I feel great and my immunity is so much better – I certainly don’t remember the last time I fell ill.

Membership at my Edinburgh gym, FitnessChicks, is growing rapidly. I think it’s because the women that sign up here are seeing fitness and weight loss results whilst working out with friends in a fun and friendly environment.
