Quartermile proudly displays its mix of 21st century structures and historic Edinburgh buildings, preserving the site’s past whilst giving it an exciting future.

It stands on the site of what used to be the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. It’s a place that many of this city’s inhabitants hold in real affection, as well as being a site of true historical significance.

The Royal Infirmary, established in 1729 was the oldest voluntary hospital in Scotland. In August 1998 a contract was signed to build a new Royal Infirmary at Little France.

In May 2001 Lothian University Hospital Trust sold the 19 acre Lauriston Place site, paving the way for Quartermile.
