Edinburgh set for a week of pampering

Edinburgh’s top beauty and spa experts are uniting from May 23 to 31, to help get the city’s residents holiday ready.

Kicking off in St Andrew Square from May 23, then moving to the West End on May 20, Spa in the City promises to transform the city centre into a tranquil urban spa. There will be dozens of pop-up stalls featuring more than 1,000 free treatments, demonstrations, tutorials, make-overs and goodie bags from some of the biggest names in health and beauty.

This year’s theme is ‘holiday countdown’, with experts representing over 25 brands such as Liz Earle, Benefit, Sisley and Aveda, who’ll be on hand to offer the latest on-trend treatments and advice. You can learn how to perfect your dramatic winged eyeliner flick, how to make that cool lilac eyeshadow work, or select an orange lipstick shade that will pop with your skintone, with help from cosmetic professionals from Boots, Lush, and Superdrug.

There will also be a new drop-in ‘beauty heroes’ marquee at St Andrew Square on the opening weekend, packed with informative demonstrations and workshops. Hosted by some of Edinburgh’s leading beauty experts, these sessions are free to attend and cover everything from learning the art of make-up contouring by B.Makeup to Protégé Skin Tightening by Beyond MediSpa. Hair masters will also be on hand, with Toni & Guy helping you nail those 70’s slick low middle-partings or plait those messy, festival-inspired braids with Vidal Sassoon.

The pampering doesn’t end there. All attendees will receive a booklet of exclusive discounts from participating retailers, surrounding restaurants and bars, providing the chance to make a day of it with a bite to eat or a post-treatment cocktail as you relax and get in the holiday spirit.

Element bar will be shaking up a selection of delicious cocktails while you enjoy live music from LUNIR in St Andrew Square and there will be a selection of mouthwatering food and drink available from The Huxley during the West End weekend.

Spa in the City is free to attend but appointment slots will be designated on a first come first serve basis…. So move fast if you want to get involved!
