Quartermile’s exceptional standard of construction has resulted in a site manager at the development winning an annual national quality award, which places him amongst the best in the country.

Bob Strachan, site manager at Quartermile’s City Meadows, was amongst 450 quality award-winning site managers selected from 15,000 across the UK. Bob was one of 32 construction site managers in Scotland to win the accolade, and is one of only four award-winning managers in Edinburgh. Quartermile is the only mixed use scheme in Scotland to be included in the awards in 2015.

Bob was recognised as part of a select group of the UK’s best site managers under the National House Building Council's (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Awards for the standard and quality of new homes. This was the third time this accolade has been awarded to a manager at Quartermile, with Alan Laidlaw and Graeme Gardiner winning in previous years.

Commenting on his win, Bob said: “I am delighted to have won the NHBC Pride in the Job award for New Meadows, Quartermile. This is our third award in four years, which demonstrates the level of care and passion of the team, all of whom strive to deliver a first class product at every stage of the construction process.

“I am very proud to be part of the Quartermile construction team and it will be a great honour to collect the award in October.”

The NHBC is the standard setting body for new homes and all six winners will now go forward to the regional NHBC’s Seal of Excellence Awards.

To become a Pride in the Job Quality Award winner, each site manager had to demonstrate a variety of skills including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and excellent leadership and organisational ability. Only site managers who show the highest standards in each of these areas receive an award.
