Winner of Best Mixed Use award.

Quartermile has been recognised as the UK’s best mixed-use development at a prestigious National Housebuilding Awards ceremony.

The What House? Awards, now in their 33rd year, are held annually at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Over 1,600 senior figures from the UK housebuilding industry who attended the awards saw Quartermile win gold in the best mixed-use development category.

The official What House? Awards judges report explained: “Quartermile is not only a visual tour de force; it also demonstrates that new development is capable of enhancing even the most precious of our historic townscapes. This is a major development on a scale, and with an ambition, appropriate to one of the world’s major capital cities.”

Once complete, Quartermile, which was master planned by Foster & Partners, will comprise over 900 apartments, in excess of 350,000 sq ft of Grade A office

accommodation, 65,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, over 600 residential and public underground parking spaces and seven acres of open landscaping. The development is expected to be completed in 2018.

Commenting on the award win, Quartermile managing director, Paul Curran, said: “We are hugely pleased to have won such a high profile accolade. The What House? Awards are regarded as the housebuilding industry’s Oscars, so to win gold is an outstanding achievement.

“It is testament to the professionalism and dedication of the team we have at Quartermile, including our designers and contractors. Everyone should be very proud of the role they have played in enabling the development to be recognised in this way.”

Well over 600 apartments have been sold and Quartermile has continued to experience significant year-on-year sales growth, with growth expected to continue

until the end of 2014 and beyond.

Quartermile also recently secured an £80m funding deal to enable it to speculatively develop its remaining two office buildings - Quartermile 3 and Quartermile 4. Construction of the 130,000 sq ft Quartermile 4 Grade A office building commenced in July and is due to complete in April 2016.
