Overview |
EdinburghFamous PeopleGenerations of Edinburgh people have been born on the site of Quartermile – including politicians, and stars of sport and entertainment. Tony Blair was born here, as were presenters Nicky Campbell and Gail Porter. Racing driver Dario Franchitti roared into the world at the Simpson Memorial Maternity Hospital. And author and Sunday Times critic AA Gill sampled his first meal here. And for those who still love and remember the tartan rockers… Bay City Rollers Alan and Derek Longmuir first got to try their lungs out right here on the Quartermile site. In fact, in the Simpson Memorial Maternity Hospital’s 70 year history, almost one third of a million babies were born. |
