THE CHILDREN OF EDINBURGH IMAGINE THEIR FUTURE CAPITALWINNERS ANNOUNCED Quartermile thought that the best people to ask should be the future generation and so invited local schools George Herriot’s and St Thomas of Aquins to create their own visions of an 'Edinburgh of the future'. Each school entered numerous pieces of work all with their own ideas of what Edinburgh might look like one day. The new tram network features in many of the pieces along with futuristic and contemporary buildings and Edinburgh’s own version of The London Eye. The children’s art was then scanned onto two large hoarding boards at Quartermile and the public were asked to vote for their favourite in the marketing centre at Quartermile. When the votes were counted at the end of September, the school with the most votes was George Heriot’s who have won £500 towards art equipment. Congratulations to everyone who took part! Congratulations also to our two winners from each school. Quartermile is delighted to announce that Simon Gunn of George Herriot’s and Yuliana Golovacheva of St Thomas of Aquins have been crowned the individual winners and both have been given the choice to choose a prize from a desirable list ranging from an iPod nano to a helicopter ride for them and a friend. Anna Ewan, Head of Art at St Thomas of Aquins, said: “We were delighted when Quartermile invited us to participate in the competition and when we discussed it with the kids they were eager to take part. They have had a brilliant time creating their works of art and are so excited that they are now on display for all to see.” Thank you to everyone who voted and a big thank you to both schools for taking part and producing such great pieces of artwork. . |
