Friday 20th June 2008 saw councillor Jenny Dawe officially open Simpson Loan at Quartermile, marking the swift progress being made at the development which forms Scotland’s largest urban regeneration project. Over 100 residents now live on Simpson Loan which runs through the heart of the new district, and is fast becoming one of Edinburgh’s most sought after addresses. Enjoying a central location and stunning views across the Meadows, the first ‘Quartermilers’ moved into the development’s exclusive new build properties designed by renowned architects Foster & Partners at the beginning of the year. Three retailers are also now open for trade on the new street bordering Middle Meadow Walk including Peter’s Yard - Scotland’s first Swedish bakery - Sainsbury’s and Starbucks. . Simpson Loan is the second road to open at the Quartermile development which spans the 19 acres of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site. Vehicle access to Simpson Loan is provided via Nightingale Way, whilst pedestrians also enjoy entry via new walkways from Middle Meadow Walk. |
